Fortnite Safety in Numbers Challenges

The Fortnite Safety in Numbers challenges let you earn five free cosmetics, including two pickaxes, by playing horror islands with friends. To complete them, join an eligible horror Creator-made island with at least one friend in your party and earn 800,000 XP across ten stages. You do not need to switch maps for every stage, but solo play will not count. This guide covers how to get started, the SCALE island code, every reward milestone, and what to check if your progress stops.

  • Each stage requires 80,000 qualifying XP.
  • Cosmetic rewards unlock after every two completed stages.
  • You must play in a party with at least one friend.
  • SCALE is one option, using island code 7288-9515-0748.

How to Complete Fortnite Safety in Numbers Challenges

Every Safety in Numbers stage has the same objective: earn XP in horror Creator-made islands while playing in a party with friends. Instead of completing ten different tasks, you repeat this XP objective until all ten stages are finished.

Start by inviting at least one friend to your Fortnite party. Joining a public island with strangers does not meet the stated friend-party requirement.

Once your party is ready, follow these steps:

  1. Open Fortnite’s Discover menu.
  2. Browse the Horror collection or select an eligible horror Creator-made island.
  3. Open the Quests tab and find Safety in Numbers.
  4. Enter the experience with your friend.
  5. Earn XP through gameplay.
  6. Check the quest counter to confirm your progress.

Each stage requires 80,000 qualifying XP. You can continue playing the same eligible island rather than finding a new map after every stage.

Check your counter early in the session. This helps you confirm that your selected experience is contributing before you spend more time playing.

If the quest is missing while Battle Royale is selected, switch to an eligible Creative horror experience and check again. Your selected experience can affect which quests appear in the menu.

SCALE is a cooperative horror island where your team searches for valuable objects, transports them through dangerous areas, and delivers them to a Rift Station.

Main activityCollect and deliver valuables while avoiding monsters
Party requirementPlay with at least one friend

Search for 7288-9515-0748 in Fortnite’s Discover menu, select SCALE, and enter with your friend. This island is an option, not a requirement. Other eligible horror Creator-made islands can also contribute toward the challenges.

After loading into SCALE, complete the following steps:

  1. Head to the Battle Bus in the starting area.
  2. Select “Start New Run” to begin with your party.
  3. Use your flashlight to search the environment for valuable objects.
  4. Follow the on-screen interaction prompt to grab an object.
  5. Carry it carefully or place it in the cart.
  6. Bring the valuables to the Rift Station and deposit them.
  7. Continue collecting while avoiding monsters and checking your quest progress.

Follow the controls displayed on your screen, as the interaction buttons depend on your platform and settings. Carrying an object may require you to keep holding the grab control.

Be careful when moving valuables. Dropping them can damage them or reduce their value. The cart helps your team transport collected objects, but you should still place items inside carefully.

Delivering valuables awards XP that can advance your Safety in Numbers progress. However, collecting a certain number of objects is not the event objective. The challenge tracks qualifying XP, so use the quest counter to see how much remains.

Monsters can interrupt your run and eliminate players. A surviving teammate can revive an eliminated player by carrying their head to a Rift Station. Keep track of your teammates so you can help one another return to the run.

There is no fixed completion time for this method. Focus on confirming that your XP counts and continuing through the remaining stages rather than expecting every run to finish a challenge immediately.

All Safety in Numbers Rewards and XP Requirements

The questline awards a free cosmetic after every second completed stage. You need 800,000 qualifying XP altogether to reach the final reward.

The figures in the table are cumulative. For example, unlocking the Tarnished Crowbar requires 320,000 qualifying XP across four stages. You do not need another 320,000 XP after receiving the banner.

Each completed stage also awards 10,000 XP. This completion reward is separate from the stage’s 80,000 XP objective.

All five cosmetics listed here are free quest rewards. You earn them through challenge progress rather than purchasing them from the Item Shop.

You also do not need to visit ten different islands. Staying on an eligible island with your friend can let you work through multiple stages using the same gameplay loop.

Why Safety in Numbers Is Not Progressing

If your counter is not increasing, check your party, selected experience, and XP progress before continuing.

  • Confirm your friend is in your party. Other players being present in a public match does not mean you have met the friend-party requirement.
  • Check that the island is eligible. Do not rely only on a horror-themed name or thumbnail. Look for Safety in Numbers in Quests and confirm that its counter moves.
  • Earn XP in the required experience. Battle Royale and other unrelated modes do not replace the horror Creator-made island requirement.
  • Track XP rather than island objectives. Delivering an object or finishing a run does not automatically mean you have earned enough XP to complete a stage.
  • Select a Creative horror experience if the quest is missing. Check Quests again after switching away from Battle Royale.

Before planning a longer session, open Safety in Numbers in the Quests tab and check its countdown. Then use the remaining stage requirements to work out how much qualifying XP you still need.
