Fortnite Reload has several free cosmetic rewards during the Kado’s Curse season. You can unlock them by completing Map Mastery quests, reaching Ranked Reload tiers, winning a Reload match, and taking part in Reload Cups.
These rewards use separate progress tracks. Completing Map Mastery quests does not increase your Ranked rewards, and reaching a Ranked tier does not unlock the Reload Victory Umbrella
Free Fortnite Reload Rewards
The main free reward routes in Fortnite Reload are:
- Complete Map Mastery quests for Kado Thorne cosmetics.
- Reach higher ranks in Ranked Reload for rank-based cosmetics.
- Earn a Victory Royale in Reload for the season’s Victory Umbrella.
- Play Reload Cups for tournament rewards.
Open the Quests tab, Ranked tab, and Compete tab before starting a match. This helps you see which rewards are active and what you need to do next.
Map Mastery Rewards in Fortnite Reload
Map Mastery is the easiest way to earn the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe and other Kado Thorne cosmetics.
You must complete 12 Map Mastery quests in Fortnite Reload to unlock every reward.
| Map Mastery Quests Completed | Free Reward |
|---|---|
| 2 | Kado’s Ambush Spray |
| 4 | Fanged Nitemare Emoticon |
| 6 | Nitemare Elite Spray |
| 8 | Batty Heart Emoticon |
| 10 | Dungeon Dweller Wrap |
| 12 | Driver of Darkness Pickaxe |
The Driver of Darkness Pickaxe is the final Map Mastery reward. You do not need to reach Unreal rank, win a Reload Cup, or buy an Item Shop outfit to unlock it.
How to Start Map Mastery Quests
Follow these steps to begin the Fortnite Reload Map Mastery quests:
- Launch Fortnite.
- Open the Discover menu.
- Find the official Reload playlist.
- Select either Ranked Reload or Unranked Reload.
- Open the Quests tab.
- Find the Map Mastery section.
- Track an active quest.
- Enter a Reload match.
- Complete the objective shown in your quest menu.
Map Mastery quests are spread across Reload maps, including Nitemare Island, Stranger Things, and Surf City. Check the quest description before entering a match because each objective is tied to a specific map.
How to Get the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe
To get the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe, complete all 12 Map Mastery quests in Fortnite Reload.
Each Reload map has its own set of objectives. The quests can include getting eliminations, reaching a Top 5 placement, and earning Victory Royales on the required Reload maps.
Track your active objective before queuing for a match. This prevents you from playing the wrong map or focusing on an objective that has already been completed.
After completing your twelfth Map Mastery quest, check the Map Mastery reward screen and your Locker for the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe.
Fortnite Reload Ranked Rewards
Ranked Reload has its own reward track. You unlock these cosmetics by reaching the required competitive rank during the season.
| Rank | Ranked Reload Reward |
|---|---|
| Gold | Pale Moon Rising Spray |
| Platinum | Thorne’s Tech Wings Back Bling |
| Diamond | Jack-O’-Splosion Emoticon |
| Elite | Eclipse’s Fang Pickaxe |
| Champion | Thorne’s Armor Wrap |
| Unreal | Axe of Unreal Pickaxe |
To earn these rewards, play the Ranked Reload playlist and gain rank by performing well in matches.
After reaching a new rank, open the Ranked reward screen and read the requirement carefully. Some rewards may require you to complete an additional match after reaching the required tier.
How to Get the Reload Victory Umbrella
You can unlock the Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella by earning a Victory Royale in Fortnite Reload.
You can win in either Ranked Reload or Unranked Reload. You do not need to reach Gold, Platinum, Unreal, or another ranked tier to unlock the umbrella.
To earn it:
- Select Reload from the Fortnite Discover menu.
- Choose Ranked Reload or Unranked Reload.
- Play until you earn a Victory Royale.
- Check your Locker after the match.
- Look for the Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella in the Glider section.
The Victory Umbrella is separate from Map Mastery rewards and Ranked Reload rewards.
How to Get Reload Cup Rewards
Reload Cups are limited-time competitive events. These tournaments can offer cosmetics, including special outfits, gliders, and other Fortnite rewards.
Open the Compete tab to see whether a Reload Cup is active in your region. Read the event rules before joining because each tournament has its own start time, team format, point requirement, and reward threshold.
Winning a normal Reload match does not unlock Reload Cup cosmetics. You must enter the correct tournament and meet its specific reward requirement.
Best Way to Unlock Every Free Reload Reward
Start with Map Mastery quests because they give you a clear path toward six cosmetics, including the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe.
Track one quest at a time and play the required Reload map. Try to complete elimination, placement, and Victory Royale goals while working toward one Reload win for the Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella.
After that, switch to Ranked Reload if you want the rank-based cosmetics. Keep improving your rank throughout the season and check the Ranked reward tab when you reach Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, or Unreal.
Final Tip
Complete all 12 Map Mastery quests first to get the Driver of Darkness Pickaxe, earn one Reload Victory Royale for the Kado Thorne Victory Umbrella, then focus on Ranked Reload if you want the higher-tier cosmetics.
