Blizzard has officially announced World of Warcraft: Forever, a new version of WoW that brings fresh adventures to the original Classic Azeroth. It will add new zones, more than 1,000 quests, nine dungeons, two raids, a new battleground, the Skyborne playable race, and major updates across the full level 1–60 journey.

World of Warcraft: Forever launches worldwide on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. A beta test begins on September 17, 2026, giving selected players an early look at this new version of Azeroth. Unlike regular WoW Classic progression, Forever will stay focused on the original world of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms instead of moving into later expansions.

What Is World of Warcraft: Forever?

World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard’s new long-term experience for players who love the original version of World of Warcraft. Many fans have called this idea “Classic+” for years, meaning Classic WoW with brand-new content instead of a move into expansions like The Burning Crusade.

Blizzard has now made that idea official.

Forever will exist alongside both modern World of Warcraft and normal WoW Classic. It is designed as a permanent version of Azeroth where players can explore familiar places while discovering new stories, zones, dungeons, and challenges.

The game takes place after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before the Molten Core raid. Players will return to the original continents, level their characters to 60, and continue receiving new adventures in the future.

The level cap will remain at 60. Blizzard plans to grow the game by adding more adventures, systems, and locations inside Classic Azeroth instead of raising the level cap again and again.

World of Warcraft: Forever Release Date

World of Warcraft: Forever will launch on:

  • Release date: November 4, 2026
  • Release time: 3:00 p.m. PST
  • Beta start date: September 17, 2026
  • Beta end date: October 21, 2026

Players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time will be able to play World of Warcraft: Forever at launch. This means the standard game experience does not require a separate base-game purchase.

However, beta access is not included with a regular subscription. Blizzard says that players need either the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection to enter the beta on September 17.

New Content Coming to WoW Forever

Blizzard is adding a large amount of content to the Classic WoW world from day one. The goal is not only to give max-level players new raids, but also to improve the entire journey from level 1 to level 60.

Here is what players can expect at launch:

  • Three completely new zones
  • Overhauled areas from original Azeroth
  • More than 1,000 new quests
  • Nine new dungeons
  • Two new raids
  • One new battleground
  • The Skyborne playable race
  • New class talents and skills
  • More race and class combinations
  • New reputations, rewards, pets, and cosmetics
  • Updated HD visuals with a classic visual option
  • New content for levelling players and level-60 characters

This is a major change from past WoW Classic releases. Instead of mainly following the original expansion path, Blizzard is building more content inside the original version of Azeroth.

Three New World of Warcraft Forever Zones

World of Warcraft: Forever will introduce three entirely new zones to Azeroth. These areas are meant to expand locations that existed on the original Vanilla WoW map but were not fully available to players before.

The confirmed new zones include:

Mount Hyjal

Mount Hyjal is one of the most well-known places in Warcraft lore. It played an important role during the battle against Archimonde in Warcraft III, but it was not originally a full playable zone in Vanilla WoW.

In World of Warcraft: Forever, players will finally be able to explore a new version of Mount Hyjal. Blizzard has not yet revealed every quest, dungeon, boss, and reward connected to the zone, but it is expected to be one of the biggest new locations in the game.

Zephras Isle

Zephras Isle is the starting location for the new Skyborne race. This means players who create a Skyborne character will begin their adventure here before travelling into the wider world of Azeroth.

The island will introduce players to the Skyborne culture, story, and early quests. It should also help new players learn the basics of World of Warcraft: Forever from the beginning.

The Riverglades

The Riverglades is another new area coming to the original Azeroth map. Blizzard has confirmed it as one of the major new zones, but full details about its quests, enemies, dungeons, and story are still limited.

This zone is important because it shows that Blizzard is not only updating old locations. It is also opening up parts of the original world that players could see or hear about but never properly explore.

Skyborne Is the New Playable Race

One of the biggest features in World of Warcraft: Forever is the new playable race called the Skyborne.

The Skyborne are a new elven race tied to Zephras Isle. They are being added as part of the new Forever experience, giving players a fresh character option inside the Classic-style world.

Blizzard has described the Skyborne as a major part of the new content. Players who buy the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or Warcraft Forever Collection will receive access to the race and its Zephras Isle starting experience.

The Skyborne Heroic Pack also includes early name reservation, which allows players to create and customize up to three characters before launch. Early name reservation runs from October 27 through November 3, 2026.

Blizzard has not yet shared the complete list of available Skyborne classes. It is best to wait for official beta information before confirming which class combinations will be available.

Nine New Dungeons and Two New Raids

World of Warcraft: Forever will add nine new dungeons and two new raids at launch.

This is a large amount of PvE content for a Classic-based game. The new dungeons will not be made only for players at level 60. Blizzard says many new quests and dungeons will be designed for characters who are still levelling.

That is a big difference from modern WoW, where many players rush to max level before most major content begins. In Forever, Blizzard wants the levelling journey to feel important again. Players should find new quests, enemies, stories, and dungeon runs while travelling through Azeroth.

The two new raids will give level-60 players more reasons to form guilds, build groups, collect gear, and take on difficult bosses. Blizzard has not yet confirmed the names, locations, loot tables, or release schedule for the new raids.

For now, players should avoid trusting leaks that claim to know the full raid details. Blizzard’s official announcement confirms two raids, but more information is still expected later.

New Battleground and PvP Updates

PvP players will also get new content in World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard has confirmed one brand-new battleground for launch.

Battlegrounds are large team-based PvP areas where Alliance and Horde players fight for objectives. Classic WoW already includes famous battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley, so a new battleground could give PvP fans another reason to return.

The battleground’s final name, map design, objectives, rewards, and match size have not yet been fully explained. Blizzard may reveal more during the beta period or in future developer updates.

Updated Classes, Skills, and Race Combinations

World of Warcraft: Forever will not simply copy the original Vanilla class system. Blizzard is planning updates to classes, including new talents and skills.

The game will also feature additional race and class combinations. This could give players more freedom when creating characters and trying different playstyles.

For example, some Classic WoW race and class limits may change in Forever. Blizzard has confirmed that new combinations are part of the plan, but it has not yet published a complete list for every race and class.

This means players should be careful with early guides, fan-made lists, and social media posts. Only Blizzard’s official class information and beta testing can confirm the final details.

Updated Visuals With a Classic Option

World of Warcraft: Forever will offer visual improvements while still respecting the look of original WoW.

Blizzard has confirmed that players will be able to use updated HD visuals or choose an old-school visual style. This is good news for both types of players:

  • Players who want a cleaner and more modern look can use the updated graphics.
  • Players who enjoy the original Classic appearance can keep a more traditional visual style.

The updated version is expected to include better lighting, shadows, water effects, and particles. This could make Azeroth feel fresher without changing the main Classic WoW gameplay style too much.

Will Normal WoW Classic Still Be Available?

Yes. Blizzard has confirmed that normal WoW Classic will remain playable.

This is important because some players want a completely original experience without new zones, races, quests, class changes, or visual upgrades. Forever is an additional WoW experience, not a replacement for every existing Classic realm.

Players will have three different ways to enjoy World of Warcraft:

  • Modern WoW: The current main version with new expansions and modern systems
  • WoW Classic: The traditional Classic experience and its existing progression options
  • WoW: Forever: A reimagined Classic Azeroth with new long-term content

This gives players more choice depending on whether they want a modern MMO, a classic-style game, or a new version of Vanilla WoW that continues to grow.

How to Join the WoW Forever Beta

The World of Warcraft: Forever beta starts on September 17, 2026, and ends on October 21, 2026.

Players need one of the following editions to get beta access:

  • Skyborne Epic Pack
  • Warcraft Forever Collection

The Skyborne Heroic Pack includes the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle starting experience, but it does not include beta access.

The Epic Pack includes beta access, 30 days of Game Time starting on November 4, extra cosmetics, pets, tabards, and three Invite-A-Friend launch codes. The Warcraft Forever Collection includes all Epic Pack rewards plus Warcraft III: Reforged, the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and extra Housing décor for modern WoW.

Final Thoughts

World of Warcraft: Forever could be one of Blizzard’s most important WoW announcements in years. Instead of moving players away from the original game world, Blizzard is bringing new life to Classic Azeroth with new zones, quests, dungeons, raids, PvP content, the Skyborne race, and visual improvements.

The biggest idea behind Forever is simple: the adventure should not end once players reach level 60. Blizzard wants players to keep exploring the original world, meet other players, run dungeons, join guilds, and discover fresh stories without leaving Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms behind.

With the beta beginning on September 17 and the full release set for November 4, 2026, World of Warcraft: Forever is shaping up to be a major new chapter for Classic WoW fans.
